premium Oregano from Sicily - 20g
Oregano is to the South of Italy what basil is to the North. Oregano is a Mediterranean plant which draws its name from the Greek oros ganos which means "the joy of the mountains". Its taste is very similar to that of marjoram, which grows in France, but slightly more intense. Oregano is mainly used at the end of cooking to keep its flavors intact, as well as raw in salads, vinaigrettes or sprinkled on meat. Oregano is used in pizzas, pastas, with tomatoes and sauces, grilled meats and pan-fried vegetables.

Our oregano is rigorously selected in Sicily, an island that produces aromatic herbs with incomparable fragrance.
Oregano, this aromatic plant with ancient origins, has a rich history dating back to ancient Greece. Formerly known as "marjoram," it was celebrated for its protective role and medicinal virtues.
Native to the mountains of Greece, especially on the peaks of Mount Oros, oregano, belonging to the Lamiaceae family, is a robust and aromatic plant.
Its name itself comes from ancient Greek, where "oros" means "mountain."
In addition to its deliciously fragrant flavor, oregano is known for its medicinal properties. Traditionally used to relieve pain and discomfort, it is often incorporated into infusions or essential oils for its therapeutic benefits.
Once dried, oregano fully retains its herbaceous and Mediterranean aromas.
In cooking, oregano is an essential ingredient in many recipes, especially in tomato sauces, where it brings a touch of freshness and aroma.
Oregano is essential for preparing antipasti preserves, as done in Italy (artichokes, spring onions, etc.), for preparing Carne alla pizzaiola, a famous dish from Campania where meat is cooked with tomato, olive oil, garlic, and white wine, originating from Naples, as well as Ligurian focaccia with tomato, onions, and anchovies.

Les épices ne sont pas donnés au vue de la quantité, mais je ne regrette pas du tout. Elles ont vraiment du goût et subliment le plat.
